Soooooo Gay...

I am in support of Gay Marriage, "Domestic Partners" and the repeal of "Don't Ask Don't Tell".

HOWEVER, the *thought* of Gay Sex squiggs me out in the same way that the thought of my Parents "Doing It" squiggs me out. I just don't want to hear about it or think about it even though I *know* it's happening, ya know?

So I really want to know... does that make me Homophobic?

Just saw "I Love You Phillip Morris" and thought it was an excellent Con Job movie (I HEART CON JOB MOVIES) as well as one of the most romantic films I've ever seen... but then I found myself thinking "...*despite* it being about two guys". I can't deny this thought, and it kind of makes me angry at myself for having to qualify it like that to my self.

Maybe it's the lack of sleep that's making me Hyper-Politically-Correct about this. I just kept on wishing that it wasn't about "Dude Love" so it would be more readily acceptable for a broader audience, but I know that if it were about a man and a woman that it wouldn't have been the same. COULDN'T have been the same.

I think the fact that homosexual sex acts are not to your taste does not make you homophobic. I'm sure you are in favor of parental sex (at least the one time that you were the result) but you don't want to watch your mom and dad's sex tape, right? Does that mean you hate your parents? No.

You can accept people for who they are without wanting to put a magnifying glass on what they do.

I think that as a society it is very easy to be made to feel guilty over even the possibility that we don't accept every aspect of people's lives. We don't want to be prejudiced after all. I think sometimes we take too much guilt for offenses we fear we may commit.

Look at it another way. Assume that you are a Protestant from Washington, raised in a church with a fairly conservative church service. Then you visit your friend in Alabama and go to his all black Southern Baptist church where people send "amens" to the minister and dance in the aisles and the choir has more talent than all the blonde mega pop stars in Nashville and Hollywood put together. You might feel uncomfortable and maybe feel that things are happening that you don't want to be a part of. Does that make you racist? No. It makes you a unique creature with your own set of things that make you comfortable and that fit in the parameters of your life. You can wish the Alabama Holy Ghost Baptist Church well while crawling back into the anonymity of the back pew of the Anacortes Church of Dullville.

Then don't think about homosexual sex? You don't think of your parents having sex, do you?

I noticed you say "gay sex," and keep mentioning men, but make no reference to women or lesbians. So would lesbians count as well?

THAT is a completely different bias/hang-up of mine... Two Dudes having sex is icky but Two Chicks having sex is a thing of wonder and beauty. But I've chalked THAT up to the pure aesthetics of the situation; I think that the Male Body is all angular and rigid and unwieldy, like a piece of equipment or a tool. But the Female Body is round and curvy and soft, more like a piece of art. I get far more enjoyment from artwork than I do from tools :)

So, is 2Girls1Cup a work of art?

Art is in the eye of the beholder. You should know as well a anybody that one person's art is another person's filfth :)

Usually art doesn't involve eating shit and vomiting it up into someone else's mouth.

However, I'll go back to my original comment - as I said before, why think about that sort of thing? You don't think about your parents screwing when you're around them, do you?

I'll admit your comment came out a bit creepy to me. You are definitely showing a bias. Your original post may come off as a bit homophobic, but here's thing - no one needs that the idea of two men fucking gross you out. Hell, there's a lot of fetishes that gross people out, but they're still in support of heterosexual marriage. Why? Because what two consenting adults do behind closed doors is their business. The same should be applied to homosexual marriage, even if the thought of two men fucking is gross.

As long as you're in support of gay marriage and all that, then that's all that is needed to be said.

Just because you're at a waffle house doesn't mean you have to order waffles.

I agree with the others, and I think it's a GOOD thing that you can separate your disgust at the thought of the sexuality part of a man-man relationship and your social/political viewpoints. I think there are a lot of people that can't separate the two, or keep the former from influencing the latter. Not to mention that marriage, the repeal of DADT, etc, has nothing to do with actual *sex*.

Now think about it the other way around. I'm sure there are plenty of gay men that get squicked by the thought of man-woman sex, but they don't really have the privilege of avoiding this depiction all the time. It's everywhere: on TV, movies, magazines, internet, IRL, constantly... no matter how much they want to avoid the thought. People who make those "I don't want the gays to shove it in my face"-type comments are SO fucking ignorant.

Personally, I think the activities of consenting adults, of whichever combination of genders and number, are their business. I really don't need to hear descriptions or pictures.

But if it comes down to it, it's healthier to see/hear those descriptions than it is to see/hear the endless descriptions of violence our society indulges in.

What can I say? I'm weird. I believe prostitution should be legalized & licensed, NO ONE should get married before the age of 25, and no one should have kids before they are 30.
